This official PlayStation 5 controller, part of the HyperPop Collection in Techno Red, features a glossy finish with a gradient that shifts from neon blue to black. Beyond its appearance, the outer layer boosts tactile friction for a better non-slip grip than matte versions, though it also shows fingerprints more easily over time.

Third revision of the gamepad

This model is Sony's third hardware revision (v3). It includes haptic feedback through dual actuators, which replaces conventional vibration with precise physical feedback that can mimic textures and environmental effects. The adaptive L2 and R2 triggers employ a gear mechanism to deliver dynamic resistance, recreating the tension of actions like pulling a rope or braking.

Capacitive touch panel

The controller comes with a two-point capacitive touchpad, symmetrical analogue sticks and a six-axis motion sensing system (gyroscope and 3-axis accelerometer each). Wireless connection uses Redtooth 5.1, providing quick response on PS5, PC, Mac and mobile devices (Android/iOS). To use haptic vibration and triggers on PC, a wired connection and firmware update through Sony's official tool are necessary.

1560 mAh lithium-ion battery

Power is supplied by a 1,560 mAh lithium-ion battery. With intensive use - feedback, speaker and lights on - battery life ranges from 6 to 8 hours. For audio, there is a noise-cancelling microphone array, a built-in speaker for secondary effects and a 3.5 mm jack for headphones.
