For organisations that need dependable links for as many as 48 analogue telephones or fax units, the Grandstream GXW4248 v2 is a high-density analogue VoIP gateway. It comes with 48 FXS ports alongside 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and can handle up to 30 simultaneous SIP calls, which makes it well suited to medium and large offices, hotels or call centres. A broad selection of voice codecs is supported, among them G.711, G.729A/B, G.722, iLBC and GSM, so audio remains clear under differing network conditions.

Protecting voice traffic from interception and unauthorised entry is a key concern, and the device addresses this through TLS, SRTP, HTTPS, SSH and 802.1X authentication. Deployment and administration are made easier by provisioning options that include TR-069, XML, TFTP/HTTP/HTTPS or configuration files. The 1U rack-mountable chassis (440 x 220 x 44 mm) is compatible with standard server racks, while the power supply takes a 100-240V AC input and delivers a 12V DC output.
