This official PlayStation 5 controller, part of the HyperPop Collection in Rhythm Blue, features a glossy finish with a gradient that shifts from neon blue to black. Beyond its appearance, the outer layer boosts tactile friction, offering a better non-slip grip than matte versions, though it also shows fingerprints more easily over time.

Third hardware revision

This gamepad is the third revision (v3) of Sony's internal hardware. It uses dual actuators for haptic feedback, which replaces conventional vibration with precise physical responses that can mimic textures and environmental effects. The adaptive L2 and R2 triggers employ a gear mechanism to deliver variable resistance, recreating tensions like pulling a rope or braking.

Capacitive touch panel

It includes a two-point capacitive touchpad, symmetrical analogue sticks, and a six-axis motion sensing system (gyroscope and 3-axis accelerometer each). Bluetooth 5.1 provides wireless connectivity for quick response on PS5, PC, Mac, and mobile devices (Android/iOS). To use haptic vibration and triggers on PC, a wired connection and firmware update through Sony's official tool are necessary.

1560 mAh lithium-ion battery

Power comes from a 1,560 mAh lithium-ion battery. With intensive use - feedback, speaker, and lights on - it lasts between 6 and 8 hours. Audio features include a noise-cancelling microphone array, a built-in speaker for secondary effects, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
