Within the brand's audio range, the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro mark a step forward in technical terms. Their hardware design is built for acoustic precision, combining dual amplification, Bluetooth 6.1 connectivity and Galaxy AI processing, which handles intelligent noise management and sophisticated functions including real-time translation.

The SM-R640 carries IP57 certification, offering protection against dust as well as freshwater immersion at depths of up to 1 metre for 30 minutes — a level beyond the usual IPX4 rating found in TWS headsets.

Dual-driver audio design

A two-driver setup forms the core of the sound system: an 11 mm woofer handles the low end, while a 6 mm planar tweeter takes care of high-frequency output.

Each driver is governed separately by a Dual Amp system, a power arrangement that prevents crossover interference between frequency ranges and sharpens sonic accuracy.

For audio transmission, the Samsung Seamless Codec (SSC) is used, supporting 24-bit / 96 kHz resolution. Thanks to this technology, Hi-Fi playback is possible on Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 6.0 or higher.

Adaptive Noise Cancellation v2.0

An Adaptive ANC v2.0 system driven by artificial intelligence algorithms is included in the Galaxy Buds4 Pro. On the hardware side, 6 microphones with a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) work alongside a dedicated VPU (Voice Pickup Unit) to analyse the surroundings.

The cancellation level is adjusted automatically by the AI in line with ambient noise. Safety-oriented functions are also present, such as siren or alarm detection, which turns off the ANC to warn the user. As soon as human conversation is detected, Ambient Mode is activated automatically and the volume of media content is lowered.

Bluetooth 6.1 and the Galaxy ecosystem

Bluetooth 6.1 is built in and works with LE Audio and Auracast, making it possible to receive public audio streams wherever compatible environments are available.

With the Auto Switch function, devices linked to the same Samsung account — smartphones, tablets, watches or TVs — can be switched between automatically. The multipoint feature, however, is mainly optimised within the Galaxy ecosystem.

360° audio and gesture control

For multimedia content and video games, multi-channel playback up to 7.1.2 is delivered by the Audio 360 system. An IMU (inertial measurement unit) combining an accelerometer and a gyroscope takes care of head tracking.

Head gestures offer another way to control the earbuds: a nod answers calls, while a shake of the head rejects them, with no need to touch the headphones.

Battery and build

Playback reaches up to 6 hours with ANC switched on, and up to 26 hours in total when the 530 mAh case recharges are included.

Fast charging is supported through USB-C, as is Qi wireless charging.
